This week ended with our 2nd Sumobot event. There were many more functional competitors than our last event a few weeks ago, and it was great to see the progress everybody was able to make in such a short time. The new winner was The Big P, which defeated Nestle in the final round. See the photos below of all the wonderful sumobots that came from all the hard work of our sophomore class.
Additionally, this week we finally were able to place our brand new Southbend lathe into the workshop. This lathe has been sitting on a palette waiting to be moved for some time now, and we are happy it is now in place. Students Grace Kallberg, Clark Barayuga, Ben Wirz, and Jackie Whealan spent time with the machine cleaning off the Cosmoline coating meant to protect the lathe from rust and corrosion during shipping. It is a tedious process, but a necessary one.
Lastly, our Robotics team will be honored at Monday’s (5/15) School Council Meeting. The World Championship in Colorado is rapidly approaching, and the team is working nearly every day to get the rover ready for travel and competition.
All for now.
