This week was all about our seniors as we celebrated the entire vocational senior class at our annual banquet on Thursday night. It’s always a special evening where students dress formal and the faculty presents awards to many of our outstanding students. This year, the Engineering and Robotics shop recognized two seniors, Grace Kallberg and Jackie Whealan for their dedication to the shop over the last 4 years. We wish we could have given all our seniors awards, as we think each one is special and has a bright future ahead. In addition, Grace also won the top vocational award for outstanding student. This is the second year in a row an engineering student has won this award!
On the work front, we wanted to give a mention to sophomore Aaron BenDaniel, who has been obsessed with learning to mill using our 4th axis. After a lot of effort, and a few broken milling bits, he was able to complete a 3D head from aluminum. It’s a pretty remarkable looking object, and we are looking forward to seeing what else he will be able to make using our 4th axis.
That’s all for this week, we should have reporting on our second Sumobot contest taking place this Friday.
