A lot of machining action this week in the Engineering and Robotics shop at MVTHS. Seniors Matt, Brooke, Chris, and Jeff all spent time in the machine shop learning how to use our Trak CNC Mill. They are currently working on a small introductory project to machine their very own aluminum dice. The process involves precision measurement with calipers, edge finding, and programming the conversational interface on the mill. See the example piece below.
We also learned more about the Tormach CNC 770. We were able to send gcode from Autodesk Fusion to create an Arduino enclosure. There were some lessons learned throughout the process, but it showed us how powerful this machine can be for the shop, and the best part is we have two of them!
