Junior student Mike Ortiz has started the year off quickly, deciding to tinker with pneumatic cylinders to recreate a prop from the popular video game. Luckily, we happened to have some pneumatic cylinders on hand, and Mike went to work prototyping his idea, using the laser cutter to cut parts to act as the assembly to host the cylinders. Once plugged into the power supply, a button on the hand grip activates the cylinders and they shoot forward in a punching motion.
Once Mike works out all the kinks with his prototype the next step is to head into the machine shop and make some more permanent parts from alumnium or steel.
