We hope everybody had a fun, safe, and relaxing Memorial Day weekend. Last week our students put the finishing touches on a couple of really great projects. First off, Junior Isaiah Bell finished his LED backdrop for the metal sign in the corridor. He writes on his blog:
WOOHOO! BOO-YAH!
Apologies, but this week was finally when I finished my second individual project besides a few tweaks. The main issue that was consistent was the circulation between the power source and the LEDs themselves. See, it was important for these two components to function fluently so the LEDs can shine bright like a diamond. My favorite part is when the LEDs glitch for a split second every two minutes. This effect was coded to switch very quickly between blue and white, which gives it the appearance that it is glitching (Like the Robotics & Engineering Logo GIF above). I even got an idea from a sophomore to seasonal decorate the Lights for holidays like Christmas and New Years. I do have a lot more ideas for this sign. Please take a second to view the quick gallery below and enjoy yourself!
See more photos of the sign at his website linked here.
Additionally, Senior Dom Bruno finished his Toothbrush Band project. In this project, Dom has been able to use the vibrating motors in electric toothbrushes to create music. His toothbrush band can play just about any song, and contains 4 band members, each playing a unique melody in the song. The googly eyes on the band members are a great touch. Please see the photos of the band below.
Lastly, the freshmen continued working in CAD this week, while our Sophomores continued work on their first independent projects. Only 3 weeks of school left, and we can’t believe how fast time has flown past!
