Mr. L Shop Smarts #008

Only a few more weeks until our April break! Until then, lets enjoy our next round of insight. Hopefully you find these helpful – especially those looking for some work this summer.

For those of you who utilize AI in your daily work tasks, Fusion has introduced Autodesk Assistant. You can find it at the bottom right side of the extreme, it looks like a small quote bubble. Once you click to open it, you are prompted to ask a question. It also provides the option to show you example questions it can answer. Please give it a try and let me know how/if you are using it. Here is a link to a quick video about using Autodesk Assistant.

Ever made a mistake in Fusion? At the top of the screen are two arrows, one to move forward and one to move backwards, similar to a Control-C command on the PC. If you look closely and the arrows, however, they have a small triangle next to them which brings up a more precise drop down menu that lets you choose which feature or command you want to undo. This allows you to back up more precisely than simply clicking the back arrow repeatedly not really know how far back you have gone.

Are you a Junior or Senior that has not spent a lot of time in the machine shop? For the seniors, your time is getting thin to complete projects from the machine shop, so I urge you to come and talk to me about using the mill, lathe, waterjet, or CNC router. I have project ideas for you, from simple rings on the lathe, Turner Cubes on the mill, furniture on the CNC router. The point of the machine shop is for everybody to use it – so for those who have not been in there recently, please think about giving it a shot.

Thank you for not reading this.
