Last week we entered into the month of November! We can’t believe how fast this school year is moving along. Luckily, our students are working hard and creating some imaginative projects in the shop.
This week Senior Nate Matarazzo was working on the physical aspect of his video game project.
This week I started routing the arcade machine that I have spent the last few weeks designing in Fusion. With the help of Milo Austin, a classmate of mine, and Mr. L, one of my shop teachers, I was able to start learning how to use the router and make stuff. After school on Monday, I picked up the wood I am using from Home Depot. Also on Monday, I started modeling a nut in Fusion for some of the buttons that are missing that piece. I finished doing that on Monday, since I happen to be really good at CAD, apparently. Then, I ordered the remaining buttons I will need online, and they are supposed to be delivered by this time next week. On Tuesday and Thursday, I was in the machine shop using the router. I wasn’t in school on Wednesday, so I wasn’t able to get any work done that day. I toured Emerson College which was pretty cool, though. However, I did accomplish a lot in the short week, and I was able to start routing which is a good thing in my opinion.

Junior Alex Pilika worked in the machine shop learning how to use our manual milling machine.
Since I was out sick for almost two weeks, coming back on Wednesday, I didn’t get the chance to do much in the shop.
I’m still brainstorming for other big projects to keep me working, but in the meantime I don’t have anything, so I decided to spend these couple of days learning to use the mill by making a Turners Cube. Next week I have an idea to work on something small, probably the map I proposed a couple posts ago, but I want to learn to use the Tormach by also milling a Turners Cube on it.

The Sophomores continued their work on circuitry with Mr. Christy. They will have the opportunity to get back in the machine shop with Mr. L soon.
