This week we had a nice evening welcoming prospective 8th grade parents and students into the vocational school. The Engineering & Robotics shop had many visitors, and hopefully some new recruits. Thank you to Aaron BenDaniel, Tanzerul Azam, and Santanna Russell for volunteering to stay late and show off our shop.
This week senior Alex Hickey continued work on several projects. Alex writes on his blog:
This week was spent doing a few small things. I worked on my college applications and getting my commonapp ready. I also helped nate put together and wire the bottons being used for the nate ball arcade game. I also designed and cut house numbers for my grandparents new house that they moved into. I also worked on my website more and have started to add more pages including a showcase page that will best display my work on applications. Lastly after reinstalling linux I successfully built and set up an archlinux build suitable for arm machines. This was a really long process and didnt work on PIOS.

Junior Reed Pacini was working on PCB making. He writes on his blog:
This week I continued working on the electronics for my project. I finalized my code and started on the PCB. It took me a little while to remember how to create and design electronics schematics but after a little while and watching a few videos I started to get used to it, although I still do have more to learn and remember. I ended up getting all of the parts that I will need for the light box onto the PCB.

The Sophomores were working on CAD and in the machine shop this week. Working in groups of 2, and with help of upperclassmen, they were learning how to use the milling machines. Each sophomore will create a Turner’s Cube. These machine shop projects will give them the knowledge, skills, and confidence to use all the machines in the shop.
