23-24 Week of 2/5 – 2/9

This week in the Engineering shop Junior Alex Hickey was working on his facial recognition screen.

Starting the week off, I resumed on my print that I started before ingot covid two weeks ago. There were many supports I had to remove and after that I spray painted it. Continuing, I modeled an enclosure for the case for the screen I was making, to make it more protective. It will be printed most likely today, and it fills in most parts of the gap between the standoffs, yet leaving space for USB and power cables. On the side, 4 corners protrude and stay in place by hugging the corners of the plates that lock the screen in place.

Senior Shubh Patel continued his work on the 2D Plotter.

This week I was mostly working on finding perfect size for linear bearing and rod to fit perfectly. After couple of 3d printing I found the right diameter for linear bearing and rod. Which are 15mm linear bearing size + 0.21 offset = 15.21mm and 8mm rod size + 0.45mm = 8.45mm for smooth movement.

Also did my first rod holder 3d print, It came out decent there were some hole little bit tight, but after some drilling me and João manage to fit linear bearing.
