23-24 Week of 11/27 – 12/01

Hopefully everybody recovered from their Thanksgiving food coma. We were back at it in the shop this week working hard on a variety of projects. Students are pushing hard as we only have a few weeks left until the Holiday Break.

This week Junior Sacha Silvia continued his work on the world clock project. He writes on his blog:

This week I did a lot of coding and got a lot of the functions of the word clock going. The code is pretty self-explanatory but essentially I have almost everything capable of lighting up except for the minutes. Here is the code which is not done yet but should be done in the coming days.

The only things I have to change is that the hour has to switch on the half hour instead of the full hour and I need to get minutes working. Besides that everything is functioning great!

See code and and images on his website at this link.

Senior Joao Luiz began manufacturing his custom video game controller. He wanted to make his controller out of wood, and decided to use our CNC router for the job. He writes on his blog:

In the world of manufacturing and woodworking, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) technology has revolutionized the way intricate designs come to life. This blog post explores the fascinating realm of CNC machining, with a focus on the powerful software tool, VCarve.

This week I used Vcarve to build the two pieces of my controller. I should be able to get the pieces assembled next week and take the controller home.
